In April 2002, my wife and I were driving
around and she was reading the latest issue of the Old Car Trader. In it she saw an add for a 1974 Torino being sold for $900.
I told her hmmm,, that seems a bit high for a Torino especially a 1974 Torino,
I looked at the picture which only showed the front grill and headlight area. I noticed something immediately that peaked
my curiosity. In the picture on the grill was an emblem that was not on the regular Ford Torino. The picture showed a crown
emblem only issued on the Ford Gran Torino.
I asked my wife to call the number in the lisitng and ask the person selling
the vehicle for some more information. The first question I asked her to ask the lady who was selling the vehicle is if she
would go out to the car and tell me what it says on the front quarter panels. When the lady returned she told me wife that
it said Gran Torino in block lettering. I then had my wife ask how many doors the vehicle had and the lady replied that it
was a 2 door. I told my wife to get directions and to tell the lady that we would be on the way to see the car.
Upon getting to Gainseville Florida where the car was located at, I met the lady
and found the car parked in the woods under some trees and it was obvious the car had been there for some time.
On the next page I will feature pictures of the car in it's original state of
purchase.
